Japanese Snowflakes

I have been having a lovely time making these Stack-n-Whack blocks out of a Japanese sateen with a large-scale floral print.

The results are always a surprise.

The variety that can come from just one fabric is astounding.

Fortunately, I am not finished because I can't wait to see what surprises are in store for me.

It reminds me of that eternal child inside of me who loved cutting tissue paper snowflakes in December.

Red With White or White With Red?

As a fan of that which is striped, spotted, mottled, and variegated, the Scentimental rose is one of my favorites. Its naturally striped petals are a delight, and its perfume strong and heady. To top all that off, the tall bush is hardy and easy to tend.

The jury of botanists is still out on whether Scentimental is a red rose with white stripes or a white rose with red stripes. What do you think?
